Minu nimi on Claudia ja ma olen p\u00e4rit Zaragozast, \u00fcsna suurest linnast Hispaania p\u00f5hjaosas. Olen ka pooleldi Puerto Rico p\u00e4ritolu, mist\u00f5ttu mulle v\u00e4ga meeldib kogeda erinevaid kultuure ja nende omap\u00e4rasid. Just seep\u00e4rast otsustasin siia tulla.<\/p>\n

Mis inspireeris sind liituma Valdeku Noortekeskusega vabatahtlikuna ja kuidas loodad oma teenistuse jooksul panustada v\u00f5i mida \u00f5ppida?<\/em><\/p>\n

Mul oli t\u00e4iskohaga kontorit\u00f6\u00f6, kuid hakkasin pidevalt endalt k\u00fcsima, kas see on ikka see, mida tahan teha kogu oma elu. Seega lahkusin t\u00f6\u00f6lt ja veetsin terve suve reisides. Kui suvi l\u00e4bi sai, m\u00f5istsin, et tahan pikemaks ajaks v\u00e4lismaale elama minna, kuid samas soovisin ka olla produktiivne ja kasulik. Seet\u00f5ttu otsustasin, et vabatahtlik t\u00f6\u00f6 oleks suurep\u00e4rane v\u00f5imalus. Mul ei olnud suvel piisavalt aega, et Eestit k\u00fclastada, nii et see oli peamine p\u00f5hjus, miks hakkasin otsima vabatahtliku t\u00f6\u00f6 v\u00f5imalusi just siin. Kandideerisin sellesse noortekeskusesse, sest tegin sotsiaalmeedias veidi uurimist\u00f6\u00f6d ja mulle meeldis see, mida n\u00e4gin \u2013 k\u00f5ik tundus nii tore ja l\u00f5bus!<\/p>\n

Kuidas sobib see kogemus sinu isiklike v\u00f5i ametialaste eesm\u00e4rkidega?<\/em><\/p>\n

Olen kindel, et see aasta vabatahtlikuna aitab mul inimesena kasvada. Olen varem t\u00f6\u00f6tanud noorte era\u00f5petajana, kuid mul ei ole olnud v\u00f5imalust t\u00f5eliselt m\u00f5ista, kuidas noored m\u00f5tlevad ja k\u00e4ituvad, nii et see tundub parima v\u00f5imalusena seda teha. Samuti v\u00f5ib see kogemus muuta mu vaatenurki ja ametialaseid eesm\u00e4rke \u2013 kes teab?<\/p>\n

Mis Valdeku Noortekeskuse eesm\u00e4rkidest k\u00f5netab sind enim?<\/em><\/p>\n

Mulle v\u00e4ga meeldib t\u00f6\u00f6tajate avatus ja suhtlemine, samuti suhtlemine t\u00f6\u00f6tajate ja noorte vahel. T\u00f6\u00f6tajad ei \u00fctle lihtsalt “jah” v\u00f5i “ei”; nad p\u00fc\u00fcavad hoopis selgitada ja julgustada lapsi m\u00f5tlema ning m\u00f5istma, mida nad teevad ja miks nad seda teevad<\/p>\n

Kirjelda oma ideaalset v\u00f5i unistuste p\u00e4eva meiega \u2014 millised tegevused v\u00f5i \u00fclesanded toovad sulle k\u00f5ige rohkem r\u00f5\u00f5mu?<\/em><\/p>\n

Usun, et olen juba oma ideaalset p\u00e4eva kogenud. Minu esimene p\u00e4ev langes kokku Halloween’i peoga, kus oli muusika, lauam\u00e4nge, suupisteid, \u00f5udseid kost\u00fc\u00fcme ja palju inimesi! Mul oli nii l\u00f5bus!<\/p>\n

Mida soovid k\u00f5ige enam kogeda v\u00f5i \u00f5ppida vabatahtliku teenistsue perioodi jooksul?<\/em><\/p>\n

Ma tahaksin kindlasti \u00f5ppida natuke eesti keelt. Pean seda v\u00e4ga huvitavaks (ja raskeks) keeleks. Usun ka, et noortega t\u00f6\u00f6tamine ja tegevuste korraldamine aitavad mul oma loovust arendada.<\/p>\n

Milliseid hobisid v\u00f5i tegevusi naudid sa oma vabatahtliku t\u00f6\u00f6 k\u00f5rvalt?<\/em><\/p>\n

Mulle meeldib live-muusika! Ei ole vahet, kas see on rock, pop, metal, techno, folk v\u00f5i flamenco \u2013 viige mind lihtsalt kontserdile ja ma olen k\u00f5ige \u00f5nnelikum inimene!<\/p>\n

Kui saaksid p\u00e4evaks proovida kellegi teise rolli Valdeku Noortekeskuses, kelle oma see oleks ja miks?<\/em><\/p>\n

Arvan, et valiksin Roula rolli. Tundub, et tal on k\u00f5ik kontrolli all ja n\u00e4ib, et k\u00f5ik armastavad teda!<\/p>\n

*Roula on \u00fchtlasi sel aastal ka v\u00e4lisvabatahtliku tuutor – aitab tal \u00f5ppida tundma Valdeku Noortekeskust ja selle t\u00f6\u00f6d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kas on mingeid eeskujusid v\u00f5i inspiratsiooniallikaid, mis on sind m\u00f5jutanud?<\/em><\/p>\n

Minu eeskuju ja inspiratsioon on alati olnud mu vanaema. Ta oli v\u00e4ga soe ja k\u00fclalislahke; ta soovis alati, et inimesed oleks kodus, olgu need siis pereliikmed, s\u00f5brad v\u00f5i uued tuttavad. Ta oli \u00f5petaja, vanaema, ema ja mu parim s\u00f5ber. K\u00f5ik armastasid teda, ja just seet\u00f5ttu p\u00fc\u00fcan olla hea inimene \u2013 et olla temaga natuke sarnane.<\/p>\n

Milline t\u00f6\u00f6- v\u00f5i elukogemus on olnud k\u00f5ige v\u00e4\u00e4rtuslikum sinu kujunemisel selliseks, nagu sa t\u00e4na oled?<\/em><\/p>\n

Usun, et see, mis mind t\u00f5eliselt kujundas, olid inimesed minu \u00fcmber. Olen oma s\u00f5prade ja pere \u00fcle v\u00e4ga t\u00e4nulik; nad on alati mind toetanud ja julgustanud riskima ning j\u00e4tkama enda avastamist.<\/p>\n

Claudiaga saab kohtuda noorsoot\u00f6\u00f6 n\u00e4dala raames juba 13.11.2024, kus ta tutvustab end l\u00e4bi valitud tegevuse. V\u00e4lisvabatahtlikud<\/span> saabuvad Eestisse Euroopa Solidaarsuskorpuse (ESK) projekti raames 11 kuuks, osaledes selle aja jooksul m\u00f5ne endale huvipakkuva asutuse tegevuses. Claudia j\u00e4\u00e4b meiega l\u00fchemaks ajaks. Tema teenistus l\u00f5ppeb 31.05.2025. Noortekeskustes on nende \u00fclesanneteks noortega suhtlemine, noorsoot\u00f6\u00f6tajate abistamine ning oma kultuuri tutvustamine huvitegevuste ja \u00fcrituste kaudu. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We are thrilled to welcome Claudia Serrano to our team! Each summer, we sadly bid farewell to our international volunteer as they head back into the wide world, but each autumn, we have the joy of greeting a new friend who joins our youth center. We have been very fortunate with all of our volunteers so far\u2014each one has been a truly unique individual who has helped make our youth center an even cooler, more diverse, and enjoyable place for everyone. Let us introduce our newest member, whom we asked a few questions:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Introduce yourself<\/em><\/p>\n

My name is Claudia, and I’m from Zaragoza, a fairly large city in the north of Spain. I’m also half Puerto Rican, so I love experiencing different cultures and contrasts. That\u2019s why I chose to come here.<\/p>\n

What inspired you to join our organization as a volunteer, and what do you hope to contribute or learn during your time here?<\/em><\/p>\n

I had a full-time office job, but I kept questioning if that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I quit and spent the whole summer traveling. When summer was over, I realized I wanted to live abroad for an extended period of time, but I also wanted to be productive and helpful, so I decided that volunteer work would be a great idea. I didn\u2019t have enough time to visit Estonia over the summer, so that was the main reason I started looking for volunteer opportunities here. I applied to this organization because I did some research on social media, and I liked what I saw\u2014everything seemed nice and looked like so much fun!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

How does this experience fit with your personal or professional goals?<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m sure this experience will help me grow as a person. I’ve worked as a private teacher for young people in the past, but I haven\u2019t had the chance to really understand how they think and behave, so this feels like the best way to do that. It might also change my perspective and professional goals\u2014who knows?<\/p>\n

What parts of our organization\u2019s mission resonate most with you?<\/em><\/p>\n

I really appreciate the openness and communication among the staff, as well as between the staff and the young people. The workers don\u2019t just say \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno\u201d; instead, they try to explain things and encourage the kids to think and understand what they are doing and why they are doing it.<\/p>\n

Describe your ideal day with us\u2014what activities or tasks bring you the most joy?<\/em><\/p>\n

I believe I already experienced my ideal day. My first day coincided with the Halloween party, which featured music, games, snacks, spooky costumes, and a lot of people! I had so much fun!<\/p>\n

Are there any skills or areas of knowledge you\u2019re particularly interested in developing while you\u2019re here? What are you most looking forward to experiencing or learning during your time with us?<\/em><\/p>\n

I would definitely love to learn some Estonian. I find it to be such an interesting (and difficult) language. I also believe that working with young people and organizing activities will help me develop my creativity.<\/p>\n

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of your volunteer work? Is there something that would help others get to know you better?<\/em><\/p>\n

I love live music! I don\u2019t mind if it\u2019s rock, pop, metal, techno, folk, or flamenco\u2014just take me to a gig, and I\u2019ll be the happiest person!<\/p>\n

If you could try out someone else\u2019s role in the organization for a day, whose would it be, and why?<\/em><\/p>\n

I think I would choose Roula\u2019s role. She seems to have everything under control, and it looks like everyone loves her!<\/p>\n

*This year, Roula is also a tutor for her \u2013 she helps Claudia to get to know Valdeku Youth Center and its work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Are there any role models or sources of inspiration that have influenced your growth?<\/em><\/p>\n

My role model and inspiration has always been my grandma. She was very warm and welcoming; she always wanted to have people at home, whether they were family, friends, or new acquaintances. She was a teacher, a grandma, a mom, and my best friend. Everyone loved her, and that\u2019s why I strive to be a good person\u2014just to be a little like her.<\/p>\n

What work or life experience has been the most valuable in shaping who you are today?<\/em><\/p>\n

I believe that what has truly shaped me into who I am today are the people around me. I\u2019m very grateful for my friends and family; they have always been very supportive and encouraged me to take risks and continue discovering who I am.<\/p>\n

International volunteers arrive in Estonia through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) project for an 11-month period, during which they participate in the activities of an organization of interest to them. Claudia will stay with us for a bit less and her service will end 31.05.2025. In youth centers, their tasks include interacting with young people, assisting youth workers, and sharing their culture through various activities and events.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
